In my place,Kelantan,Malaysia,there are certain method to teach the white belt students.Firstly,they need to learn how to guarding block.Then,they will learn low block and punch while taking a step forwad.Until they can do walking stance and low block correctly,i will not teach them the fisrt foundation of pattern,that is Saju Jirugi.
Then,after doing saju Jirugi correctly,they will learn how to do low knife hand block and inner block.After that,then i will proceed to teach them Saju Makgi..The similarities between both of these foundation,that is Saju Jirugi and Saju Makgi is,all of their movements are executed using walking stance only.
General Choi Hong Hi,Founder of ITF Taekwondo says,"Pattern is The Seed of Taekwondo,Without Patern.Taekwondo Does Not Exist".
